DRGs are Diagnosis Related Groups that are the basic units for which hospitals are paid by Medicare and Medicaid for healthcare services. The MS-DRG system is the current version of the DRG system that hospitals are required to use. This new DRG system adjusts length of stay and payment based on the severity of illness for a patient.

- A DRG name/title
- A DRG weight
- An arithmetic length of stay (LOS)
- A geometric LOS
